Indu Panday
Mijn verhaal
Indu Panday is een vooraanstaand gezicht binnen de Indiase klassieke dans en een van de weinige professionele Indiase danseressen in Nederland. Ze begon haar dansreis al op jonge leeftijd met Bharatanatyam bij Smt. Geeta Ramlal en Sri Satishkoemar Myre Makhan. Daarnaast volgde zij lessen en workshops bij toonaangevende meesters in India, zoals Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan, Smt. Rukmini Vijayakumar en Smt. Lavanya Anand. Haar passie voor ritme en verhaalkunst leidde haar later naar Kathak, een vorm die ze diepgaand verfijnde onder de deskundige leiding van haar guru’s Sri Hari en Smt. Chethana Hari in Bangalore.
Als veelzijdig performer toert Indu met internationale producties over de hele wereld. Ze is een vast en bepalend gezicht bij het Nederlandse gezelschap KalpanArts van Kalpana Raghuraman. Daarnaast reisde ze af naar Engeland om te dansen bij Seeta Patel Dance, waar ze schitterde in de iconische internationale productie The Rite of Spring. Ook trad zij in zowel India als Nederland regelmatig op met Noopur Performing Arts Center, het gezelschap van haar eigen docenten Sri Hari en Smt. Chethana Hari.
Vandaag staat niet alleen het podium centraal, maar bovenal haar overgave als docent en mentor. Met het tienjarig jubileum van haar dansschool Indu Panday Nritya Arts viert zij een bijzondere mijlpaal. Vandaag vieren we een decennium van toegewijd leraarschap, waarin Indu haar diepgewortelde kennis, techniek en liefde voor de dans heeft overgedragen op haar leerlingen. Velen van hen betreden vandaag samen met haar het podium.
Indu combineert haar artistieke talent met een scherp zakelijk inzicht. Naast haar werk als freelance financial controller in de culturele sector is zij namelijk ook actief als business manager bij het OSCAM, het Open Space Contemporary Art Museum in Amsterdam. Met deze krachtige combinatie van podiumkunst en cultureel leiderschap bouwt zij dagelijks mee aan de artistieke wereld van nu en de toekomst.
My story
Indu Panday is a leading figure in Indian classical dance and one of the few professional Indian dancers in the Netherlands. She began her dance journey at a young age, studying Bharatanatyam under Smt. Geeta Ramlal and Sri Satishkoemar Myre Makhan. In addition, she attended classes and workshops with renowned masters in India, including Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan, Smt. Rukmini Vijayakumar, and Smt. Lavanya Anand. Her passion for rhythm and storytelling later led her to Kathak, a dance form she refined extensively under the expert guidance of her gurus, Sri Hari and Smt. Chethana Hari in Bangalore.
As a versatile performer, Indu tours internationally with productions around the world. She is a prominent and influential member of the Dutch dance company KalpanArts, led by Kalpana Raghuraman. She also traveled to England to perform with Seeta Patel Dance, where she appeared in the iconic international production The Rite of Spring. In addition, she has regularly performed in both India and the Netherlands with Noopur Performing Arts Center, the company of her own teachers, Sri Hari and Smt. Chethana Hari.
Today, the spotlight is not only on her performances but, above all, on her dedication as a teacher and mentor. With the tenth anniversary of her dance school, Indu Panday Nritya Arts, she celebrates a remarkable milestone. Today marks a decade of devoted teaching, during which Indu has passed on her deep-rooted knowledge, technical expertise, and love for dance to her students. Many of them will share the stage with her today.
Indu combines her artistic talent with strong business acumen. In addition to her work as a freelance financial controller in the cultural sector, she also serves as Business Manager at OSCAM (Open Space Contemporary Art Museum) in Amsterdam. Through this powerful combination of performing arts and cultural leadership, she actively contributes to shaping the artistic landscape of both today and the future.
